Reminiscing the day we had met. How will I tell her this? That I was the very first man she ever loved. The first man to hold her so near and so close to her soul. I am the very man who heals her almost dying soul. It was a 7 days romance when she was still working as a waitress at a certain island restaurant. I was on vacation at that time; it was my graduation gift my brother gives me. All she has done was work and work without play. I had seen her first near the ocean sitting on a sand contemplating on something. Her thoughts were very far and as wide as the ocean. I begin to follow her. I begin to wonder why such beauty hides a very deep sadness inside. I was so near her all the time. She always smiles those gorgeous sweet lips. I find it mesmerizing. I was having a hard time grasping her schedule. She was always busy on something, never had a time for herself to enjoy life. I thought life must be cruel to this wondering beauty. Her image haunts my very soul. I was swept away by her mysterious life. Her mysterious ways to engulf everyone with her warm smile. My courage is building up my eagerness to talk to her… to know her better. To know every inch of her life’s Journey. I plan and plan every step in my head on how to meet with her or just how to manage just a tiny bit of her time. The only time I manage to cope up with her busy schedule was the time on her contemplation at the beach on which I really don’t want to bother her moments of tranquil silence all for herself. Till one day:

Spine: “You seem in deep thoughts again.” *I manage to finally say it after a hundred times of deep thought on which how to approach her nicely*

Cassandra: *a bit shocked* “oh, Sir it’s you.”

Spine: “Don’t call me Sir, that’s too formal. Spine will do”

Cassandra: “What a unique name mr. Spine”

Spine: *smiling a flashy smile* “I know right. Every time people heard my name they will always say it’s unique. To be honest, I have been watching you lately. I don’t want you to think of me as a stalker. Think of it as an admirer of your beautiful mysterious smile.”

Cassandra: *smiling sweetly* “Actually I noticed your stare from the very start we meet at the restaurant I work for. I didn’t mind because I know everyone else like you; just admire the lovely facade I pretend. And you’re the first person who finally manage to caught me here, cope up with my busy day. I avoid any social contact for I don’t want to damage my future. I’m shaping myself for a better me. I work every penny I save for a business I dream. I want to have a restaurant of my own someday. I don’t want to rely on someone else, even a friend. I don’t need those. I am my own self. Sorry about that, *sigh* I don’t want to be rude. I just want to tell you now that don’t expect anything from me.”

Spine: “I see, no worries. But would you mind being friends with me? I know that you don’t need a friend. Still I’m too eager to be your friend that I don’t want no for an answer *big smiles*. Actually I also have no real friend either. I think everything around me is business. It’s the first time I have been out without any guard around, just me. Everything around me seems so faked. It’s the first time I have meet such honest person like you. You’re the person who had caught my attention the very first time I step on this island. The people here is warm and accommodating but nothing compare to your ever warm and bright smile. I guess you can call it a crush. As I could sense you don’t want any serious relationship right now, so being friends will do. My vacation is almost finished, it will only be complete if you give some spare time with me. Please?”

Cassandra: “Very frank individual you are. Well I am your friend now. But my time is constrained. I don’t have much time in my schedule. Just this one hour every Saturday, like today.”

Spine: “What if I’ll book your whole week for a tour around the Island?”

Cassandra: “Sounds interesting, but I’m not sure”

Spine: “Don’t worry I’ll pay you extra money aside from the tour fee.”

Cassandra: “ha! Rich people and your Richie rich ways. I am not a tour guide, I’m only a waitress. And I don’t want your money. I work not to please people, I work to save money. I am not an entertainer. I only serve food; I don’t serve myself to people. Now I’m being sarcastic and it’s your fault. Goodbye good Sir.”

~ I was in awe, speechless on what just happened. Me and my stupid mouth. Now how will I convince her to have a moment with me….

A very enjoyable read that transplants the reader into the heart and soul of the scenes and the exchanges of conversations as if we are there in the moment . That is a talent . I mainly like poems but I had to check this one. Good job my friend...:)
