My Doorstep

My Doorstep

A Poem by Wendy Karasin
"

A period of time, long ago. I'm much happier now.

"
Dismay,
finds my doorstep
seeps into my being,
leading to pastures of
yesteryear
brown and wilted
with age.
If the purpose be
to examine
then I have yet to unlock the secrets,
synchronizing the outmoded timing
of my life.

sometimes the timing is just off...and the past follows us home...knocks on the door...and we put out the welcome mat for dismay...i wonder if poets do it more than others.

your wording is really tight here...nicely done..less is more..and you as a lot with this piece...

True...poets tend to be the more sensitive types so it's very possible we get to do it more often. T.. read more

hey I'll bring you some egg rolls i just dug through to China! lol
I think we all go through times in our lives like this where we hear that knock on the door, glance through the peep hole, realize what is waiting on the other side is something we'd rather not invite in but we do anyway. You have described this pain perfectly in your wonderful poem Wendy. Very nicely done.
