My Father

My Father

A Poem by WriterSki7
"

A poem I wrote to my dad after a heated arguement. Doubt this crap's worth reading but might as well put it up on Writerscafe since everybody seems to like the stuff so much . . .

"

A man of esteem, a man on the rise.

A man of hope, and of sacrifice.

A man of relationships, a man of love.

A man of heart and a man of devotion.

A Righteous man, albeit a man with fault.

A man who understands, and a man who talks.

A man of the future, yet a man of the past.

A man of great courage, yet a man I call Dad.

We don’t see eye to eye, we hardly get along.

Yet with every sun rise, he welcomes me into his home.

A man of deserving pride, a man of great stature.

A man of service, and a man who tries.

A man of the Ages, yet a man I call Dad.

I know we hardly get along

I know we often disagree

But with every sunrise, I know

He’s a man who loves me.

~_~ Just another dose of emotional crap. I only care about reveiws when people read my books. I don't give a damn what you say about my poetry*

Updated. I cannot stand gramatical errors on so small a piece.

I think like that about my mother sometimes we don't get on very well but in the end parents are parents they love you no matter what. I can't stand grammatical errors either I'm never good at punctuation or that kind of stuff so I never tell anyone off for it. Overall brilliant write and shows your love for your dad very strongly.

Nice work on this. Nicely structured.

The repetition really drove this piece home for me - I simply would not love this piece any other way. Bravo, good sir.

It's amazing, I only wish i can say the same about my father......maybe when i live with him I can love him again. really great, your father sounds like a best friend too. =)- justin

I love it. It describes not only your father, but everyone else's fathers. I just think that repeating "A man of..." a lot is not necessary (we get it, he's a man). You also repeated "I call Dad" twice. Try not to repeat yourself too much. Then again, don't take my word for it. I'm not a professional poetry writer. Otherwise, it's very touching.

Coming terms with dads and moms…
Is an art….
I too... am going through it…..
Often ….after many arguments….
I too reach at your conclusion….
That….
He is a man who loves me….

This is poignant. I have the same relationship with my Dad and my son with me...

Emotional crap, hmm, well, emotions are always hard to execute but I love this, a job well done, resonates with me a lot, although I miss my dad for different reasons, this brings home that they should never be taken for granted:)

This is beautifully moving, excellent poem xx
