Sacred of Journeys

Sacred of Journeys

A Poem by Sheila Kline

Embarking on a journey of discovery via DNA

Sacred of Journeys

I call into raging winds in the darkest of night.

Turn I to far lands on my left,

Then turn I to far lands on my right.

I summon you to answer me.

Only your sage knowledge shall reveal the soul of me.

Dancing lights appear as bonfires in the black of skies.

Grip I my shield as I kneel down.

Rest I my battle weary thighs.

I accept the luminaries are a sign from you.

You are the reason for the fire that blazes within.

Distant thunder joins now hands with flashes of the past.

Claps burst and shatter the quiet.

The loud of sound reverberates.

I feel the power of the energy that pulses.

This is proof that I am who you destined me to be.

I am the progeny of countless generations,

Centuries becoming as one.

My existence stems from ancient.

Now embedded as my life’s code,

Revere I the trek as the most sacred of journeys.

Author's Note

Sheila Kline
My DNA results have held many surprises, as I thought I was of English, German, and Irish descent with a little of others "thrown in" for good measure!

The journey has been fascinating as I've discovered who I really am; mainly Scandinavian (yes, Viking) including Norwegian, Swedish, Denmark, Iceland, Celtic, Longobards, Visigoths, Vandals, Saxons, Franks, and directly match a 7,150 BC sample from Somerset, England called "The Cheddar Man".
It has touched me to the core of my being so I wrote this poem to honor my ancestors who have made me who I am! I consider it to be a SACRED JOURNEY!
I've also discovered amazing music that reaches inside of me and thrusts me back through the Ancient of Days; Wardruna, Heilung, Ran Kati, Danheim, and so many more.....I'm also pursuing the study of Runes. SKALD!

There’s a little bit of our antecedents, their gene pool in each and every one of us and how delightfully inquisitive of you my friend to not only acknowledge this fact, but to pen a wonderful poem in appraisal and appreciation of their past existence. After all, but for them none of us would be here today!!! 🤗

I never had the slightest interest in any avenue of genealogy becuz I don't even care to associate with my living kin (very fractured by childhood abuse). That's why it's kinda amazing that your entire share kinda pulled me in, especially your authors notes. It's not that I care about the ancestry thing, but YOU are the star of this show. YOU are the one we enjoy watching becuz of your vibrant anticipation & how you have such a flair for imagining the significance of what these details mean to you (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
