Chapter FourA Chapter by capn - roxass
I screamed. There was nothing else I could do.
I felt the sensation of flying for a split second, for my eyes had squeezed themselves shut, and I waited for the crushing impact of the tracks beneath and the rocks overhead. But it never came. Instead, my body crashed on top of another and skidded backwards, with no crushing impact from above. After a few long seconds, my eyes hesitantly opened, but nothing was visible enough. It was far too dark, and the only sound I could hear was heavy breathing above my head. Oh yeah... that crazy lunatic. I cautiously rolled off of him and onto my stomach, and sat up on my knees. My eyes began to adjust to the darkness, and I could see the boy's figure sit up, and rest his head on his bent knee. "...You okay?" he huffed, his breathing gradually slowing. I didn't answer. I just stared, still trying to decipher what the hell just happened. The tunnel was collapsing, I found this dude, we jumped - well... he pulled me - off the back, and now were sitting in darkness in one piece? ...Are we dead? My thoughts were interrupted by an outstretched hand touching my face. I flinched and smacked it away quickly, snapping back into reality. "You've got a whole lot of explaining to do!" I hissed at him. My demand was only met with a pause. "...I know, but there's not enough time to explain everything now. We need to start moving, and I can answer a few questions along the way if you can cooperate." "Is that some kind of sick bribe? Just tell me now!" "Just... just come on!" He grabbed my hand and stood up, pulling me up with him. I tugged my hand away instinctively, glaring. I heard his soft sigh, and his faint figure faced me. "...A few questions, then we have to get going." I smiled in satisfaction, then asked, "Are we dead? And if we aren't... how??" "No... we're alive, I'm sure. And if I went into full explanation for that, it would take far too long, so in short, there's a forcefield around us." "That's impossible." I responded almost instantly. "Maybe to you, but not to me." he replied, then paused again, "Sorry, but we really have to get going." There was a slight moment of silence, but he moved his hands in a strange motion, and there was crashing sounds all around us, like more falling, but not as loud. The area lit up a little, and I looked up. The ceiling was almost completely destroyed, with huge chunks missing, and those huge chunks were sitting around the two of us at that moment, but in smaller pieces. They stood several feet over our heads. But despite it still being afternoon, the sun did not show. The dark clouds completely covered the sky now, swirling quickly, and heat poured in through the holes. I gaped at the sight, but my attention was drawn away as the boy's hand grabbed mine and pulled. "Just follow my lead." He climbed over the first few pieces with ease, pulling me most of the way, since I struggled to scramble behind his pace. He said to ask questions along the way... right? "Uhm... so... who are you anyway?" The brunette climbed onto another piece of rock before his reply. "For now, you only know me as Sora. You wouldn't understand anything else this early." [Author's Note: Cheezit, read the Note for Reviewers thing now xD] "What makes you think I wouldn't understand?" I challenged. "You think something as simple as a forcefield is impossible. You won't. Understand." Sora answered bluntly. I glared, but chose not to argue any further. "Where are we going?" "As of right now, out of this mess." ...As of right now? "...And no, I can't tell you where we're going next." He said, as if answering my thought. My eyes narrowed, as I thought of my next question. "...Why didn't you just let me die like everyone else on that train?" Sora stopped in his tracks for a second, standing on a wide bit of rock, and looked down. "...You're in great danger." He said softly, "You aren't safe here anymore." I blinked, and looked at him quizzically "...Why?" Sora swiftly moved ahead, dragging me along without reply. I stopped asking questions then. After a long and rigorous time of climbing through the debris, we made it to another subway stop. Sora climbed onto the platform, and pulled me up also. "Alright, just one more thing I remembered..." he said, then his eyes averted to me. He blinked twice, his silver eyes growing wide. I shrunk back with unease. "Uhm... what?" Sora scratched the back of his head. "I don't get it... you don't have the necklace now, but you have the emblem on your chest." Emblem? What does he... I looked down, only seeing my birthmark. What the hell is he talking abo- WAIT A MINUTE. "Why the HELL ARE YOU LOOKING THERE?!" I shouted, covering my chest and scooting back. "N-no! I didn't mean it in that sense!" He stuttered, his cheeks turning a thousand shades of red. "And what emblem anyway?? There's nothing there!" I continued. "Huh? Your emblem is right here!" Sora traced a circle around a small area under his collarbone, right where my birthmark was. Realizing this, I hesitantly put my hands to my sides, and looked at the mark. It was symmetrical. On each side there was a small, wispy design, like flames, flowing out to the sides. "...I thought that was a birthmark..." I admitted dumbly, looking away. "Where's your necklace. The one you were wearing when we met earlier." the brunette demanded at an instant. "Oh yeah!" I squat on one knee, untied my converse, and pulled out the necklace with the snapped chain. His eyes widened at the sight. "W-Why aren't you wearing it?!" he freaked, snatching it from my hand. "...My mom broke it... don't flip out it's just a piece of jewelry." I stated cooly, reaching up and slowly taking it back. "It's more than that! It protected you!" he blurt out, then slapped himself in the face. "No wonder why they came so quickly..." he muttered, then looked back at me. "Look, there's not much we can do about this now, so just... hold onto it for the time being. We're wasting time just standing here." I stared at him for a second, then dropped the necklace back into my shoe and laced it up. Sora grasped my hand and hastily rushed away, with me stumbling behind. -- The brunette dragged me to the base of the stairs leading out of the subway. He stopped, and faced me seriously. "Okay, we're almost out of here. But from here on out, no more questions, just following. Obey everything I say without protest. This could end very badly if you fail to follow this. Got it?" he instructed. Without giving time for a response, he pulled me up the staircase, out into the open. The whole area felt close to a sauna, and appeared as if it were night. And the streets were still void of people, although this didn't surprise me. Sora scanned the area quickly, then closed his eyes, and began murmuring something softly; I couldn't hear. This lasted a few more seconds, until I turned my head, and spotted a deep fog of purple smoke far down the street, advancing towards us. I gasped and squeezed Sora's hand tightly, and shook his shoulder. He opened one eye... but he didn't need me to show him what lay down the street. "S**t!" he whispered harshly. Sora swiped his hand upwards in front of him, and a purple and red-ish vortex appeared, as if he had torn through the air. Without wasting another second, he pushed me in front of him and grabbed my waist from behind, then turned around and jumped into the vortex backwards. -- "Hey... Wake up..." I heard these soft words, but nothing else seemed present. I couldn't feel a thing... everything was dark... "C'mon, wake up... Roxanna!" My eyes fluttered open, as if something clicked in my head at the mention of my name. I blinked a few times, clearing my vision. I was lying on thick grass, surrounded by thin trees towering above. Sora was sitting next to me, brushing his hand over my forehead. My face grew hot, and I slapped his hand away at once, sitting up. "Why are you TOUCHING ME???" I shouted. Sora opened his mouth to reply, but as I tried to scoot back, a sharp pain shot through my left knee. I bit my lip, holding back a yelp as my eyes began to water. "Don't move! Your knee's injured." He informed me nervously. "Gee, thanks for the warning!" I snapped back. I sighed and held my forehead, looking down. "How the hell did that happen anyway?" Sora looked away, and scratched the back of his head. "WELL...... when we came in through the portal.... I screwed up.... we didn't land correctly... and you landed... on your knee... on a rock... it looked painful." He flashed a nervous smile at the end of his sentence. "And then you passed out." I stiffened, and held back a nasty reply. What was the use? I just looked up at him and said, "You know... you're really stupid." Sora merely blinked, and laughed a little. "Yeah... I guess I am." I looked at him, confused, then shook my head. He sighed, and knelt on one knee. "Well... either way, we gotta keep moving. We're a bit safer here, but not entirely. Let's go." He then scooped his arms underneath me, and hoisted me off the ground. "Wh-What in the hell are you doing?!" I fretted, latching onto his neck, looking at the ground beneath me. "...Carrying you.... What else?" He replied cooly, beginning to walk through the trees. ...Duh. "...Where are we going?" I asked, trying to cover up my dumb question. "To G.A.S." "...Gas?" "No... the Gaia Academy of Sacara. G.A.S." "...What the hell is that." Sora didn't reply. He just continued walking. I shut my mouth for the rest of the way, until we reached a huge - and I mean HUGE - stone fortress. It almost looked like a castle, made of large silver bricks. It seemed divided into three sections, although still connected, the middle being the largest, with four tower-like buildings placed on the corners. I stared, lost in my thoughts. ...Where am I??? I blinked, realizing Sora was at the large black door, and pushing his way into the building. My eyes widened at the sight. The lobby was enormous... The walls were smooth and snow white, and the floors were white and grey marble times - nothing like the outside. A cream colored rug stretched out from the door to a large staircase at the other end, which flattened at the center and separated into two other two other staircases, one traveling left, and the other right. Both sides of the lobby had a large light brown double door with golden designs, and the windows were clear and thin, stretching to the tall ceiling. A large diamond chandelier hung in the center, sparkling in the daylight. It was stunningly beautiful. Sora carried me across the rug and climbed up the stairs, taking the right side, although I noticed that both sides went to the same room. The next room was rather large. It was entirely white, with many rows of curved tables surrounding a single desk and blackboard, like some kind of strange auditorium-ish classroom... thing. I couldn't take the constant silence anymore. I had to say something. "What the hell are we doing in here??" I asked, a bit more rudely than I intended. "I'm taking you to... uh... the principal, as you would say. Although it's not exactly in that sense... our 'principal' is also a wizard. The headmaster of the academy." ...A wizard? ...Seriously? Forcefields... Portals... Wizards... Castles... This is obviously a really fucked up dream. "Okay... soo... what's his name?" I asked, playing along. "Kaitlyn." ...Oh. So he's a she. Sora walked down the aisle that separated the two row sections, and stepped over to a white curtain behind the desk, pushing the curtain aside. "Falcon PUNCHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" My head jerked up at once, watching as a pale fist punched the side of a coffee mug, sending it flying to the ceiling, and crashing through the roof. WHAT. THE. F**K. Wasn't it supposed to... you know... fly to the wall... not the ceiling?! "Headmaster Kaitlyn, I brought he-" "I am aware of your presence!!!" An elderly man - yes, MAN - stood beside a dark wooden desk, with a long white beard, reaching his knees, and a long curly mustache. He wore a cloak and hat in an odd shade of green, and his eyes were stone grey. My eye twitched. I've gotta be high or something. The man's... err... Kaitlyn's expression grew from irritated to pleased... then to irritated again, when he saw the two of us. "Why in the weaslefluff are you carrying her? Put her down, Sora." I looked at the brunette boy with an expression saying 'You're kidding right?' But he didn't see. He was looking at Kaitlyn with a dumbfounded expression. "Uhm... her knee is injured. She can't stand." Kaitlyn grumbled something foreign, and grabbed a wooden stick from his desk top. "AVADA KADABRA!" He thrust his arm in our direction, zapping my knee with a bright blue light. He crossed his arms then, flashing a pleased smile. "Now unhand the girl!" He demanded in a sudden British accent. Sora sighed, and set me down gently. I cautiously stepped down, feeling nothing. Did he really just heal my knee with a Harry Potter spell that kills people??? Kaitlyn sat in his chair behind his desk, and gestured to us to sit in two chairs behind us... that weren't there before. Both me and Sora sat in the wooden chairs, facing the wizard. "Roxanna... Welcome to Sacara."
