The Storm...

A poem...

The lightning
Strikes,
The thunder
Rolls,
The rain is
Pouring,
As the wind,
Blows.

I sit on my porch,
Watching
The storm,
Admiring it's
Furiosity,
Freedom,
And Warn...

Such power,
Such freedom,
Such places to
Roam...

I envy you
Storm,
For you have
A home...

You can do
What you want,
Go where
You want,
With no one
To stop you,
And no one
To yearn...

I have no
Freedom,
I have no
Place,
I have no one
To embrace...

But just keep
Fighting,
Storm,
As will I,
And maybe
Someday,
Soon,
I will have
Mine...

this is incredible, eloquently written. i myself for some reason, never wrote a poem depicting storms or lightning probably because i have a fear of lightning, i'm in the lightning capital of the U.S. --- this poem is truly inspiring and each stanza is exquisitely written with poignancy . no , i changed my mind. i think THIS is my favorite of yours (well til the next one i read :) ) brilliant write. 100/100

you did a wonderful job, hon! no i don't love storms, at all. where i live the lightning here is quite vicious i actually hide under the covers pleading with Mother Nature "please make it stop!" you welcome...sorry if they're redundant lol

Thanks. :) Around here storms can definatly do damage, and I live in Tornado Alley, but I just like storms because of just different things they can represent. Thanks. :D

true. aahh yes in FL we do sometimes get tornadoes. went through two of those and i just sat there screaming like a banshee while that was going on..guess i'm a scaredy cat :)

Yeah. Yeah.. I have seen a tornado, and I have seen several funnel clouds, and there have been funnel clouds that go over the house, but I have never been through an actual tornado.. I was the person standing out in the middle of the yard taking pictures when that happened, too, though, so... :)

ha my ex boyfriend would do that, while my me and my then cats were hiding (both of us crying) --- i wasn't in FL during hurricane Andrew, i was in C.A. - i was in here during Wilma and that...was terrifying, and they say that hurricane was only a cat. 2? no it was a 3 cause a tornado ripped off our roof on the porch and i never saw that kind of destruction in real life before. during hurricane season i'm like NO! GO AWAY! WE DON"T WANT YOU HERE!

Haha, nice. That's good. Oh.. Well at least you weren't hurt (well not hurt real bad, I'm assuming) Yeah, well in AR there are no hurricanes, but last year for about a month there were tornados or funnel clouds every day.. Haha, wow...

yeah that would be one of my nightmares, (one) .. not hurt but i was and am ever grateful for Charmin's baby wipes as the water for three days was um dirty, full of yeah icky stuff. so i was NOT comfortable showering with icky water, and plus Wilma hit during an odd cold spell in Oct. so no hot water (electricity) only cold dirty. was not the most happiest time in my life. though NOTHING compared to those poor people in N. Orleans and their ordeal with Katrina. my heart still goes out to them and all those that are victims of such disasters!

I love how the piece flows and the feeling given off by the words. But I do see a deeper meaning in this: That you might see power as freedom.

[Not Your Typical New Yo..]

I'm a HUGE fan of thunder storms. I like to watch them. Though I never sit down and actually write a poem about the storms. I think you did good. You put the reader right in the middle of the storm. Now, since I'm in New York and it's winter, there's hardly any thunder storms. So I thank you for putting me into one.
