Memory

Memory

A Poem by Alias
"

I have an odd memory...

"

I have an odd memory,

My parents say.

I don’t recall the things I ought to.

Instead, I remember details,

Feelings, sights and sounds

That others fail to see.

I remember my uncle’s ex,

Crossing the rope in a museum

And playing the piano for me.

I remember that dad’s friend Tim,

Has a dead pixel in his

Computer screen.

I remember my last birthday,

I put my hand out the car window

and felt the breeze, intently.

I remember my favourite boots

In nursery, purple, snakeskin.

My mum donated them to charity.

No-one else remembers these.

But I like that, now

They belong to me.

Our perceptions are part of what make us unique. What we notice has meaning for us... I remember blades of sawgrass and bamboo stands... ocean waves and sand-filling footprints... the taste on moonlight, the FEEL of snowflakes in my eyes. Our gestalts make us ...thought-full

Personal memories created by an observant mind. Beautifully done piece. I travel within my world often also. You control the trip and the outcome which sometimes help in facing the reality of the day. Thank you for this fine work.
