A Poem by Melissa Rose
"

For those in Haiti- including my aunt, who I love very much

"
The ground
The walls,
Shaking. Shaking. Shaking.
FALLING.

Mom? Mom? MOMMY!
Dad? Dad? DADDY!
Brother. Sister. Aunts. Uncles. Cousins.
Grand-parents.
Lost, gone, going, losing.

Help.

Our city waking;
Our city falling.
Debris rising,
My people dying.

Calm. Calm. Calm.
Shaking, then calm.

Calm. Calm. Calm.
Shaking, then calm.

Someone help!

Trapped alone.
Alone.
Alone.

Day. Night;
Night, dark.
The air, now heavy.

Fear. Silence.
Quiet.
Am I going to die?

I wait. Wait. Wait.
Hope?

Wow that was really something... it really captured just how hectic it can be when tragedy strikes.

Melissa, I love this poem. It's like a string of thoughts that would be going through a child's head. Good job.
