Shadows

Shadows

A Poem by Roy

Shadows on the pavement,
Under the street light.
Some hurry home, some linger
And grow with the night.
Some exhausted, after the toil of day,
Some entwined in amorous play.
Some toddle, some trudge,
Two best friends each other nudge.
As the night draws on,
Lonely, cold and dark,
A timid one appears in the distance, grows slowly,
Halts, hears a pin drop.
And darts into the haze.
And a lone soul, lovelorn, sleepwalks:
Oblivious of his days
And nights.

"And a lone soul, lovelorn, sleepwalks: oblivious of his days and nights," I love the feel of your writing it goes fluently and seems to come to a complete halt like someone stopping suddenly in time and the conclusion is intense.

I really felt the isolation of this piece, emotive and well written x
