Children Sit

Children Sit

A Poem by yellowdrgn9

Children sit quietly on a wall.
They do not talk,
They do not say a word,
to the water, waves or sky.

Children sit quietly on a lawn.
They do not play,
they do not shout,
to their friends, dog or mother.

Children sit quietly in a forest.
They do not wonder,
they do not question,
the world, animals, or mother nature.

Children sit quietly in class,
they do not ponder,
they do not think,
about math, science, or their language.

Children sit quietly at meals,
they do not notice,
they are not noticed,
by parents, siblings, or pets.

Those children turn into adults,
still sitting, still quiet.
They never said anything,
and never will,
because everything they would have
questioned, shouted to, or answered,
was never there in the first place.
