Survival

Survival

A Chapter by Dr. YumnaKay
"

A late night scribble..just getting it out.

"
Nothing happened. My world didn't fall apart like I thought it would if you weren't around. I'm still whole. Surviving. Actually breathing. For I've just come to appreciate how beautiful the world is even without you.

I'd thought it won't be easy to not have you by my side. Turns out I was wrong. It's all the same. I rarely ever think about you, but even if I do, it's always in my prayers. Hoping that you're alright, wherever you are.

You taught me the most important lesson of my life and that is to never surround myself with the thoughts of only one person.

It was my fault to rely too much on you for my happiness. But I didn't realize it was just a one way traffic. Realizing it, although later, made it easier for me to make this decision. Of moving forward and watching you go along your destined path..

It's interesting that during the worst stages of a relationship we feel that we won't be able to move on and progress our lives without that person but in the end it usually happens. Everything clicks and says I'm going to be alright. Better than alright. Self motivation. Great job Yumna. A pleasure to read.

True that. Thank you for your thoughts, wordman :)
Aloha my friend these are words that gently inspire. It's an incredibly humble heart that can come to such a strong position. That's real wisdom and there's freedom there as well. Releasing yourself to something new. Beautiful soulful writing Yumna! Izzy

Ahh well yes, I suppose they do..
Wonderful short story! Perfect opening line draws you in. Well written and some very creative phrasing- "I'm still whole" and " but even if I do, it's always in my prayers." Also, I think the ending punctuation is perfect! Now for the substance- Yumna, you took a situation we all experience at one time or another and made it fresh. It's a very personal dialogue we ALL can relate to. I also love the hint of forgiveness and the wishing of this person well- it shows release and strength.

Nice one Yumna. A nice recollection of an event that is slightly tweaked from what was desired. Yes, we do survive, no matter what. Surviving is the instinct. Worthy musings!

Sometimes relationships end up being one-way streets and that's when they hurt the most. You've conveyed those feelings here. Thank you for sharing a little bit of yourself with us here.

Yes, it does hurt especially when you invest so much into it. But accepting it how it is helps.

There's a lot of emotional balance in it. Letting go the right way, I think. Without hurting too much yourself and still keep the other as a good memory, close to your heart and in your thoughts without falling apart. An emotional achievement. I like this one very much.
