In The Afternoon's Cocoon

In The Afternoon's Cocoon

A Chapter by Dr. YumnaKay
"

Ramblings of a Craving Heart.

"
The fire in my chest has ceased
to rage and this empty hollowness
that seems to tick and vibrate
within is almost welcoming;

I am ready to nestle myself
in the afternoon's cocoon.

Somewhere in the back of
my mind, I know I am restless
still, as I wait for the clock
to chime yet again;

my hours of need to be
fulfilled come even closer...

the balmy hours are spent
listening to digital recordings
of which I've memorized
every word;

every rise and fall in that voice
soothes my burning soul.

Huh. There's this person I'm totally in love with and what you just wrote here describes exactly how I feel without them. It's like cutting off oxygen! Wow; I do like how this emotion feels so raw and anguished.... With a person like you I bet this person in the poem hates being busy.... ;) nice work yumna :P

This is a favorite of mine, that I've read of yours so far (I've barely scratched the surface). Even tho this seems to be written about a day in someone's life, I keep reading it like "afternoon" is me reaching my sixties, like a slice of a life, not a day. So much of this applies to me finally reaching mellowhood! *smile* Fondly, Margie

Absence can create that crave and heighten the need. Very nicely done. I might suggest vibrate as opposed to vibrates, and need, as opposed to needs.

Thank you for reading :)
Wow, this really is beautiful, how we all find solace and peace in feel comfort and warmth in a nice cosy space. And listening to music or a wonderful story or poem read aloud or even meditative music. Reaching into the parts of us that need healing and rejuvenated spiritually and mentally. Great read Dr. Yumnakay. Could really feel the tranquillity and smoothing healing process inside this delightful read.
