Lost In A Maze of Thoughts

Lost In A Maze of Thoughts

A Chapter by Dr. YumnaKay
"

A fun write. Letting my imagination get the better of me. lol

"
This morning, while inspired
by an urge to take
a walk, I crept out
of bed, with the agony
of washing my face
on a cold December day.

Shivers went down
my spine, but still
intent to have my lazy
limbs stretch a bit,
I dragged my feet
along the garden side.

Felt the grass on my
tingling bare toes,
sniffed the air a little
and amused myself
with butterflies taking turns
on flowers all around.

Until I found myself
peering through
a bush from where
blinked two black eyes.
Staring back, I tried
hard not to blink...

But of course, I did...!
Only to straighten up
and turned to find myself
in a whole other world!
A maze, it was, with
my wayward thoughts,

from a previous life,
which drifted through the air
like tiny wisps of smoke,
untouchable and beyond reach...
in search for ideas,
I'd let my thoughts amiss.

Before getting lost,
in that maze of thoughts,
those soulless eyes
from the garden bush,
gazed at me from
the ground and I saw...

those were of a hideous rat
chasing its stumpy tail!
That's when I realized,
all along, wherever I went,
I'd been staring into
my own dreary reflection...!

It's been a while since I wrote something light so it does seem a bit sketchy but oh well... :x

Don't know that I'd call this light. If light is the intention, you might want to tweak the ending. But, if not, it drifts rather handily into the dark. I might still rework it a little for grammar, flow, and clarity's sake -- not sure, but, they were those? or they belonged to? or something to that effect? You get my drift.

I like the dark twist. The turn surprised me as I took your "light" literally. Silly me.

:D thanks again, I don't really have a dark humour side so it's fun exploring.
And not silly .. read more

I thought you did a great job, I know the feeling of being lost in thought, I loved the use of words and description.
