Inspirationally Gross

Inspirationally Gross

A Chapter by Dr. YumnaKay
"

An observation merely. Rambling.

"
Graffiti upon the walls,
inspirational messages
to boost up passers-by
on the side walk,
their backs bent just a little,

hunched with burdens,
and sweat which drips
down the brows, disgustingly
and dangerously close
to dribbling down the chins...

not one amongst those pay
a second glance to the other,
each caught up in their own
cycle of life, their legs fatigued,
to the point of collapsing,

and there...near the end
of the pavement, a man holds
his guitar steady, singing
at the top of his lungs, an equally
inspirationally gross song

to lift up the spirits
of weary individuals.

even those who have deal with depression....maybe they just work too hard, live too hard, don't stop and smell the roses..
and those stricken with poverty can sometimes seem the happiest. I also feel that graffiti is as much poetry as what we put on the pages here at WC.

This is a beautiful portrait of ugly lives . . . thank you for honoring the ones that others may turn up their noses toward. Your details are perfectly balanced between showing the starkness of hard lives while also never crossing the line into scorn or derision, always respectful (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I do that too sometimes my fellow observer... it is fun to see the masses in there masks making motions...
the masks of defense are prevalent but occasionally you come across one that isn't wearing a mask and -just is- they will lock eyes with you as they pass sometimes nod.. sometimes smile some even will scowl a bit but the key is the presence. I always even in burden try to be present and i have noticed when the down lookers accidentally see me they look away in a dash of discomfort as i smile by them. something tells me you too have experienced this a few times:) oh dear your rambling made the bunny ramble too.
but I must say your ramble strikes poetic in this flow that you write

Consumed with the rigors and hardships of life, the vibe becomes a part of the same existence. It's tough all over.

Good write, Dr.

An interesdting expose of city life and how we can be next to another human and not notice they exist and only care if we have to. The graffiti and the busker give the piece grit and a down to earth feel.
