Winter Comes and Goes

a poem for when you feel like the world has broken you.

And when summer is over and fall begins,
Remember the warmth that the sun gave to you
As you watch the leaves slowly die beneath your feet,
Remember that on the ground there was once beautiful flowers
Remember even on the coldest days, the sun still tries to keep you warm
That winter does not last forever
And soon enough you will see summer again
And you will see the bright colors and the warmth you once felt
You will forget the coldness that plagued your heart
For darkness doesn’t last forever
Eventually the flowers will bloom once more
And you will watch as the earth comes back to life
And in that moment, you will realize that even the coldest days and darkest nights
Cannot break you
