I am human

I am human

A Poem by Syke

I am petty; I am strong
I love and learn
I burn with passion
I am human
Nothing less

I claim the sea
The land has given herself to me
I seek the sky
I clutch the stars
In my greedy little fist
I hold everything

I know nothing
Ignorance is my birth
Silence is my hearth
Nonchalance my home
Hatred and jealousy and fear and pity and sympathy and a thousand more
All I have to give

Power my master and pain my mistress
Towards Death's warm embrace I march
Like to my imagined lover's breast
I go to a mother's last embrace
To let the Great's hands shelter me

And I continue on needlessly
Listlessly I harm
With purpose I want
I want to love myself

But all is gone
Fade and reflection 'till all remains
Becoming nothing

Ashes to dust to bone to blood and back
I am only human
You are only human
We, together, our humanity
Bring forth
