Unintentional Rhyme

Unintentional Rhyme

A Poem by Alex Davis

Unintentional Rhyme

I guess I asked for it, it’s all I ever wanted,

I needed someone to cause my rhyme,

Here you’ve amazed, and here I’m haunted,

And now I sit, falling back on a lil habit of mine,

Take me for granted, you can stomp me in dust,

Just promise me that, if you must,

Keep the memories in a frame, you hang them on your the wall,

Perhaps in time, as I sit in my shame, you and I will regret it all,

But-that’s-just-an …

(refrain)

Unintentional rhyme, this unfortunate habit of mine,

I apologize for offenses previous, hope they weren’t too egregious,

See but this old habit, how unfortunate, It’s not a bad one, no detriment,

Think what you want, you speak what you may,

I’ve got some rhymes of wont; that I’d quite like to say,

All your fault? No!

But I’d just like to know,

What exactly goes on, in that pretty head,

For as much I’ve stared Hun, I haven’t much to be said,

You brought out my best, you’ve seen my worst,

You revealed a magic, laid my fears to rest,

But now the ceilings a bit lower, and I curl up and glower,

My world crashes round me, as I ponder a thought,

What a travesty it be, that it’s all for naught,

I’ve been in a dream, woven by your eyes gleam,

and now that I’ve awoke, I see it’s all a joke ….

But-that’s-just-an …

Unintentional rhyme, this unfortunate habit of mine,

I apologize for offenses previous, hope they weren’t too egregious,

See but this old habit, how unfortunate, It’s not a bad one, no detriment,

Think what you want, you speak what you may,

I’ve got some rhymes of wont; that I’d quite like to say,

Well that’s that, I’ve had my say,

You may never get this, but that’s okay,

I rhyme to rhyme, my habit it’s mine,

My method thru madness, my shelter in hardship,

My shield thru sadness, to survive your friendship,

But like we always said, don’t you ever regret life,

Yesterday’s pain brings tomorrows spread, in the end its worth the strife,

Take your leave, I wanna be free,

Just be sure to know, for both our sakes

You were my best worst mistake.

But-that’s-just-an …

Unintentional rhyme, this unfortunate habit of mine,

I apologize for offenses previous, hope they weren’t too egregious,

See but this old habit, how unfortunate, It’s not a bad one, no detriment,

Think what you want, you speak what you may,

We’ve had our times, but now all I got are rhymes …
