Prometheus' Eagle

In the distant,

time-misted past,

Promethean punishments

were the norm.

It is important now

to recognise the delineation

between the real and the unreal:

and yet,

I am still Prometheus,

and the eagle,

both.

Thanks for getting me to google greek myths. Nasty dark story. The first part of the poem read as a matter of fact lesson without emotion. The last three lines powerful dark thoughts. I liked it.

Somtimes, we must aim high, despite the punishment failure will bring. If we live to try another day, we should grasp that chance for all we are worth.

Well, that's Prometheus for ya! He was a naughty titan. But he pulled it off so deserves respect. So, yeah, I agree. Sometimes you have to aim high and let the chips fall where they may.
