This Evening

This evening

the sky is violet.

An insect chorus sings

to summer’s heat,

ebbing now, as

the drowsy sun’s eye

drops past the horizon

and the fruit bats

come home

to squabble and feed

in the giant fig tree

on the gently lapping

riverbank.

A beautiful landscape you paint with your words Z, letting the reader see the scene unfold from your eyes/pen. For a brief moment, I felt the warmth of the colours from the setting sun. I miss the sun so much, but enough of that. Beautiful write my friend.

Beautiful written piece. Reminds me of some of my older writings regarding use of words. My head was literally in the scene and swallowing your words. I think your writings read very nice in general.

we go bats with our real lives---such craziness...but you bring us back to nature...where even the bats are doing okay...even with their squabbling.

Yes, it's a peaceful scene, isn't it?
There's something amazing about the dawn and dusk, when the natural world goes nuts.
Those bats were so happy to get home and I have to say I was happy to be there to see them.
