A Poem by Hazem Elashaal

My mind roams the fields of fantasy,
Visualizing my depiction of romance,
The thoughts of us synchronized,
It's just self-deception as an answer to my pain.

My eyes see through the deception,
It reveals the images hidden by the deceit,
A lone person in a room of many,
This picture is a mirror, I see myself.

To be understood is quintessential,
The sense of perspective is very important,
I am an expert, I see through all eyes,
But only I see through mine.

I hear the chatters of the crowd surrounding me,
They say I'm not who I know I am,
I can't trust them, they don't understand,
I hear myself being misunderstood.

The scent of love is a high,
It smells like blood, like iron,
This scent invokes panic and confusion,
I have never smelled it before.

Love is tangible,
it has a source, it can be felt,
It is addicting,
It is always avoiding me.

Attempts at love have left a bad taste,
I have only had false promises and deceit,
Is the real thing sweet, sour, or spicy?
It's probably an unknown flavor as it is indescribable.

This is beyond beautiful! I love the use of senses and uncertainty of what real love is like. Keep it up, love!
