Tainted Slander

Tainted Slander

A Poem by Yann Bellemare

The more you talk, the less they listen

Do you need a dictionary definition ?

Last time I checked, I didn't learn my lesson

Spend less time thinking, more time pretending

That it's all going to be all right

That it didn't leave a mark

That anything good only lasts while you're parked

There's too much to say

But no time to make sense of it all

You'll never give me a good enough reason to tell me why you stalled

You'll never give me a good enough reason to tell me why you bailed out

Don't tell me you don't care

I know

Don't tell me you won't dare

I know

Just tell me you would've once dared

With words, not a stare

Useless blabber

Tainted slander

I realize I did this all in the wrong order

But now,

You've left the room with my ego

Safe and modest to say, no one will write for you with as much soul

With as much of a goal

To pick up the pieces and reassemble

What used to be gold

This is not out there to impress

But rather, to suppress

Feelings I thought had gone to rest

It won't hurt

To take this for what it's worth

Forget about my wit

Pick up on my relentless ability to NOT QUIT

I know you didn't lie

I know you meant it

Explain to me how for f**k's sake am I suppose to forget it ?

You're young

Probably overwhelmed

Playing the mistaken

But you're not to blame

I would've done the same

Now it's pretty much time to end this

I need a punchline, something that hits

Nothing too corny, but definitely honest

You don't seem like you need anymore hints

Maybe your friends will fill you in on what you'll miss.

I appreciate and relate to the raw, honest pain of this piece. Well done!

This was like a song to me. A beautiful, sad song. The tone, the pace. You led this reader by the hand right into your heartbreaking vision. It's hard to find good relevant poetry that rhymes, but this one hit the spot. I felt this.

I love this! So many times people write a "rant" piece and it comes out a bit like... blubbery stupid s**t, to be frank, but you crafted this so perfectly that even though I don't quite know who you're talking to or what happened between you, I can still enjoy it, and I did! I love the flow. Very rap-esque. Skillful.

This was great! People often don't speak up even when it's necessary. Awesome write :)

This (in my opinion) s a perfect explanation of how people sometimes refuse to open their mouths when it is needed most. I would tell you which stanza was my favorite, but I honestly can't :) I hope you realize That that is a rare thing in my world :)
