Sleepless Nights

Sleepless Nights

A Poem by ♋ Iris ♋
"

Great dreams of late nights. Each color is of different situations of different people.

"
I walk in on it
What am I supposed to do
Your wrist is split
Did I do this to you..?

I tried to help in every way possible
You never took my hand when I tried to be there
You said that helping you was impossible
Now you are hanging there gasping for air...

You took on all of my bad days
I've tried for you but I'm not as good
What meds did you take to put you in this haze...?
Why couldn't I help you like I know, if it were me, you would

You told me you were ok if I slept
I didn't need to worry
Did you not think of my life and how it would be wrecked
I try to stop your wrist as I scream "I'm sorry"

"Did you not think of my life and how it would be wrecked" , this verse hits me in a way that it might not with others. In this type of situation this thought usually comes to the mind of the friends and family members of the suicide victim. Even after the death of a loved one their minds remain on themselves. It makes me wonder , why do so many never ask themselves "how wrecked was their life?" It should be quite obvious that the victim was in agony , but others tend to ignore that fact and only see the victim as greedy for taking their life. This piece is nicely written and brings out emotions in the reader. You did a wonderful job Iris
