Monday

A Poem by Annie Gryphon

Waiting for my car

what can i do?

Buying a new bra

a pretty one for you?

No, just looking at the garden store

they serving cake and sandwiches here

but i would like something more

maybe some sausage and a beer?

Crossing the street

there's the red-yellow trap

better watch for your feet

don't do the next step!

Oh no, it's too late

there's no escape

maybe that's my fate

damaging my shape.

Ordering French fries

and a chicken meal

also one of the apple pies

such a delicious deal!

Returning to the car

the way's not far

so good: my jeans still fit

regretting what i did?

Not a bit!

Very good annie. Your poem is deceptively simple but you have caught a slice of everyday life and described it well. It is too easy to miss these things and focus on the bigger issues.
Well done.
Regards,
Alan

Thank you for your nice comment, Alan.
Life is to short not to have a splurge now and then. in a clever woven piece

Buying new bras and making sure the jeans still fit...yep, I'm guilty! I love how you wrote of a potpourri of images, and wrapped them up in an ode to Monday!

Good to meet you, Annie!

Love your meal, makes me hungry to think
about it. A chicken meal with french fries,
then apple pie. Somebody here sounds
good enough to eat.

Humorous, lightly sexy. This is a nice snippet about one very pretty life.

Nicely written.

An amusing write about the simplicity and fun part of life. Very creative. . I literally laughed out aloud after reading the last stanza.. "A moment on the lips.. forever on the hips " :P

I love the randomness of this. It is a fun read for sure and the rhyming gave it a rhythm to fit the refrain of this Monday mundane :D
