A Poem by Fabian G. Franklin

I find it strange how scars can be tough and tender

At the same time

The flesh which was torn and injured

Is sensitive but numb

Perhaps it helps to understand the fragility of man

When we are wounded

And healing

But yet we have that feeling that comes

From an invasion of our bodies and our minds

Make no mistake

But a wound which causes shock and trauma

Is going to take a long time to heal

And then

We must deal with the weakness and the shame

And indeed, we may never feel

The same
