Joy Grenades

Joy Grenades

A Poem by Sherline Heriveaux Poetry

Two hearts should melt into a love puddle.
Not the kind of puddle that controls, hurts and limits.
The kind that supports, understands, uplifts and frees.

You and I can discuss energy, group think, string theory, cultural conditioning
and reasons why we exist.
You and I can hold hands by a beach, under a starry sky with toes buried in hard to see sand.
We'll be consumed by the galaxy's infinite grandeur and how trivial the material world really is.

I won't waste your time.
Because we'll make our own clocks.
Each second filled with gut wrenching laughter, minutes of trying new food and hours of messing up and re-making the bed.

Our bodies will be old chateaus, I'll get lost in you, you in me.
Our walls will tell distant tales of insecurity then they'll crumble under heartful lusting touches.
You can play with my hair, smell me and I'll rest my head on your boyish heart.
I'll kiss your crooked finger Because each flaw is a blessing reminding us to be grateful that we still function.

I don't need the fear of growing old alone to open me up for love.
The second I arrived into this warfare, my soul knew I would need a hand.
To help me throw joy grenades, to shoot enlightenment bullets and to set up fulfillment traps.

We'll be on the run forever.
Ego, disease, money and miscommunication will never catch us.
It'll be you and I;
Our heads on the moon, footprints on the horizon,
While humanity blazes due to our joy grenades.
