To Soar

To Soar

A Poem by Sherline Heriveaux Poetry

Home is made of dirt and hope
And smiles are formed against the ropes.
 Breathing doesn't come naturally,
It's similar to small particles escaping a weathered bullet,
after it's been jammed, then fired.
 Nonetheless, my Afro is strong.
 My Coal skin shines.
Like the gold taken from Africa, I'll be all over the world and I'll never return.
I'll be the Hummingbird resting on an Oak branch, overlooking Miracles,
Before it flies over an ocean,
 To its next destination.

The power of your voice speaks oceans and the words carry you to foreign destinations. Quite simply beautiful.

Strokes of genius on this potent canvas. Not only thought-provoking, but also pays homage.

Thanks for the share.
