"From the Desk of Patricia (a.k.a. "Rust")"

I can't say that the

memories don't linger ...

but the good ones

seem less lustrous,

and the edge is dulled

on the bad ones.

Author's Note

Desert Knave
The title is odd, yes ... I wrote the poem on a personalized note pad that says "From the Desk of Patricia" ... so I just incorporated that.

The memories of both types can be bitter-sweet. I like to remember when I was young and crazy but the memories of later life are more comforting when I think of all I've lived through.

I guess the trick is to make new memories, but there is a well-worn comfort to the old.

Too true.....the fantasy of it all wears off because we become cynical. It's a shame, but it does happen. So pleased you are writing again. Lydi**

Thank you my friend.
i wish the better ones would outweigh the more hurtful ones...but regrets usually win out.

Thank you so much. In this case there were more good moments, but the end outweighed them. ~Jim
