Dread

Dread

A Poem by Doodley
"

A life in reflection.

"
From a fragile world, I close my eyes,
And hope for dreams without despair;
Of Kings and Queens, and castles in air,
Afraid to wake - should life have passed me by.

That's kind of why I dislike losing my sleep. I usually have very vivid dreams, and of course, they are a perfect way to drift away from reality, be it only for a wee bit of time. And then you mention your fear of being blotted out of people's minds, which almost all of us do possess in our hearts. This was very relatable. Much said in these four lines!

"Dread"
Doodley,
I surly understand how periodically a
person needs a reprieve from the
rawness of reality:
"From a fragile world, I close my eyes,
And hope for dreams without despair;"
Without the ability to imagine what
we would like or dream, we could
not find meaning.
"Of Kings and Queens, and castles in air,"
Then a person must continue with the
business of living; not always easy:
"Afraid to wake-should life have passed me by."
Lots to think and ponder here, within your words.

In dreams we can live anywhere or be anything or anyone. Sadly in life it takes hard work to just be. Kathie

Thank you for reading.
i guess we all do this some time
we question if our fears have managed to pull us away from life
from being involved with ourselves on a deep stance
instead of just living

Nice write Doodley how things can change in a blink of an eye, for in the dream world there is no time to speak of but in the real world, time stops for know one! Made me think of coma induced patients.

Ah, another four liner that for-tells of a fear of missing something of value happening while one has slept. To be so fearful is to be afraid of one own shadow or to create for oneself something that someone else might be fearful of missing!
