Upon The Hillside

Upon The Hillside

A Poem by Doodley
"

Kyrielle.

"
When last of breath shall ye exhale,
To leave thee gelid, ghostly pale,
Will Beauty's muse weep down from high,
Upon the hillside where ye lie?

Will starlight mourn in velvet trance,
Ye withered days of lost romance,
And bless her star fall that she cry,
Upon the hillside where ye lie?

Will night air drowse in minstrel song,
Ye memories of days gone, long,
And swathe thee in chorales sigh,
Upon the hillside where ye lie?

It matters naught should she appease,
Ye troubled soul shall rest at ease,
If Love's footfalls forever spry,
Upon the hillside where ye lie.

I love to hear what people have to say about the passing of souls, and it's consequences; most of those interpretations are pretty disturbing. This poem gives the word 'death' a somewhat soothing connotation, for me at least. And I love that! Another wonder, this one, in your own signature style. Great work!

Oh my! This is my favorite kind of poetry. I love anything medieval. Such a romantic, yet brutal time and you've captured the spirit quite well here. Lovely!

Thank you for reading and reviewing, LK. I appreciate the time and very kind words.
What a beautifully constructed and balanced poetic form you have graced us with in your Kyrielle, Doodley. Medieval language in eloquent and graceful lines, both exquisite and profound. “And swathe thee in chorales sigh,”- so absolutely breathtaking- one line of many wondrous lines. Your poem questions, muses and sings. Master-Class work my friend.

A amazing poem. A ancient feel to the good words and you are welcome Doodley.
Flows beautifully, nicely rhymed and distinctly medieval in its style and language. I have also learned something new today as I did not know what a Kyrielle and I thank you for that as well as a good read.

Dm me on here when you come out with new pieces you want me to read (I don't check my read requests too often because I get way too many read requests). You definitely did this style justice!

Love the haunting vibe running through this.
In the night when silence sounds, walk the ghosts of battlegrounds.
Would love to try your style of writing, gets inside you.
