The Barflower

The Barflower

A Poem by E.L.C.

Her body was honey, dripped

Across a beer swathed stool

Her breath was a hangover

Laden with the lingering numbness

Of a Chianti's lightly oaken kiss

Her hand--adorned

With the wilted elegance of a tilted tumbler

Drowned between the wickedly twisted contours

Of a misread smile

I used to get drunk of life's intoxication too. Nicely written!

Magnificent word choice. Very diverse, but not distracting, and quite an elegant yet depressing theme. I have no critique for this particular piece. Everything just fits. Wonderfully done!

this poem has that wordy deliciousness to it I love, the way each word flows, you can practically chew the poem...and barflower! ha, my new favourite word.

Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it :)
Felt like I just came across the recently passed out and somewhat mangled body in the bar. Very well description!

Chris you are far too kind, your words made me blush. Thank you :)
This is cool. Strong imagery and will build different but clear emotions in whoever is reading
