A Good Woman

A Good Woman

A Poem by Gee
"

Just thoughts

"
I grew up with nothing,
no car, no holidays,
an absent father
a step father not worthy of the love of any woman
let alone my mother.
In the dark of night dreams came easily,
exotic countries
flash motors
palatial houses
all of the things to make a man happy,
or so I thought.

It was many years later
when married, comfortable, truly happy,
that it dawned on me
that these dreams mean nothing,
nothing at all,
without the unconditional love
of a woman who has agreed to let you share her life,
has gifted you a child,
and has accepted and loves you faults an' all.
It is only then that you realise,
that a life without love,
a true, enriching, all encompassing love,
will be a life lived unfilled, incomplete,
no matter the riches.....

Certainly makes sense! Words full of wisdom, Gee.

I can certainly relate to some of these aspects you have written about. For when one has nothing they do tend to dream of material posessions. And when those possessions become a reality we discover they are not so important after all. Happiness, Love, Health and Family become the greatest possessions one can acquire. And as you have written, a life without them is no life lived at all.

An excellent piece of life wisdom, Gee. Very well written as always.

Thanks Doodley, hope you are well .
It is what we strive for, a love fulfilling and unconditional that naturally bears forth fruit, sadly not all attain such 'rich' blessings for various reasons and sadly once more, they are bereft of the 'true meaning of life'

A magnanimous write, unconditional and penned a discerning hand!

A wise man, you.. and more than likely the reason why such a woman picked you from a garden and pressed you to her heart, Gee.
Surely tis how love's viewed: what gentles one is oily grasp to another, what strokes one heart is a bore to those that fail to dance to its beat.
You must have seen the best of the worst, then acted how a real many should:. found precious sanctuary and stayed there. This poem really touches me.

Thank you EmmaJ. The down side is that one day we will experience grief as deep as our love.,

Yes it makes, Very much!
Life without love is just like clock without its needles.
And above all, who can ever compete with the love of a Woman. Encapsulating all loves: of a daughter, of a mother, of a wife,
of a good woman. :)

loved it!
