Invisible

Invisible

A Poem by Unique Expression
"

Written as a response to a photography project by Morlene Fisher: "The Black Englishman"

"

Invisible…

Yet you see me,

Every time you see a newspaper,

You see me,

Cos I am black man,

Invisible…

Yet you see through me,

You look beyond me,

To the image you already have of me,

Cos I am black man,

You so articulately portray me,

Yet you will not meet me in the eye,

Invisible…

Yet on bended knee you look down on me,

Regulating me to only worthy of a handout,

I am not even afro-caribbean, yardie, n****r anymore,

I’m just black man,

Invisible…

As you refuse to consider the spectrum that is me,

Refuse to shine your light on me,

Scared I may reflect an array of brilliance,

Too hard to contain,

Not willing to be captured, categorised or marginalised,

Unidentifiable, by your resistance to my existence.

Invisible...

Why Do I Want To Write? When I write I feel alive. That may sound stupid and contrived, but often my thoughts are moving so fast I can't even write legibly. Writing gives expression to my thoughts, h.. more..
