Write Her A Murder

Write Her A Murder

A Poem by Shante Payne
"

He stole something today - sliced and diced something so nice

Her Heart

He took her brain - she couldn't think for herself

He pocketed her life - she no longer lived, breathed

Felt the pangs of pain his knives left

But he couldn't claim her soul - no that belonged to her alone

Her Soul couldn't be tarnished no matter how dirty she was on the outside

Or how much the people who didn't know - filled her cuts with salt

Over and over again

IT BURNS

Over and over again

Yet her soul remains still - No matter how beat up and grimy the outside world is

Her world is pure.

Time after time

Her face is thrown into the mud

Her heart stomped on by a size 12 boot

Her hair yanked not from passion but from anger

Her body curled like a baby out of fear

And her soul soon left the body she wouldn't dare call home - A lifeless shell on display

The news is filled with her story

Like so many women before her - written down in history

The murder of a heart, a brain, a woman whose soul still lives free and purely

Learn from her story

Take from it a lesson - TELL IT

Again and again for all to know

She was a woman inside a damaged and broken capsule

itching to break free into peace

AND SHE DID

She flew like an angel...unhitched and unharmed

Leaving behind the angry man that was cruel and heavily armed

She reached out to the heavens

It's glow inviting her in

And as she crossed over the lifeline of death...

She'd know her life just began

I think either decision would have been the right one. Ends on a much lighter note, ending it in the first way left me feeling like I need counselling...lol. I like the lift at the end, knowing that she knows she will be alright, after that drubbing. Great work, grimy and filled with indellible ink for writing on the soul.

You are a very gifted and talented artist. The pen is your brush and you stensil the world with truth...lovely poem.

Rhythm or not I felt the power in this piece, Nothing like exposing the truth through hidden stories. You are a good poetess and do not let anyone else say otherwise. Frankly the over pompous and self imnportant people would be the ones to tear this poem apart. I try and respect peoples art as it is, unless there is something glaringly wrong with it, then I point it out in private. Life is too short for liars, cheaters and haters.... But some how they still find us don't they?

Shante Payne,

Personally, I think you have a knack for standing out in the crowd; you grace us with a dark angel in color, open up to a dark angel black and white... then to flatter it even more so, you drip little drops of blood red into the mix of words.

Powerful and Important, the words spoken here... a valuable lesson for those who are in the fight of their lives.

Our Souls can never be stolen; we will always have this to hold throughout our lives. The burden of abuse is far too heavy of a cross to carry alone; your words help those to know they are not alone.

Thank you lighting the pathways to self-reflection.

Keep writing,

Legacy

This was very nice. Not one of the flowy types, but that's what I think gives it great character. And you gave such good imagery, even with only giving a snipit of a scene at a time, a very rugged and battered woman who still is able to smile inside her own untouched world. Very beautiful message.
