Wake Up and Hold On

Wake Up and Hold On

A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver

Limbs that won't move

drag the hours

day by day

languidly

hope bleeds silently

at the end of December

January won't you be gone

already

along with February

I long for a sky of blue

it is only a seasonal change

so it is said

yet I yearn for a sky of blue

this island is a tomb

my thoughts the nails

lock down

look down

ignore dull stabs of time

lest I fall

down

Beautiful Poppy Silver. A powerful yearning.

I love how you showed the powerfulness of blue by marking out it's existence in the vast sky.

Winter breathes with possibility, but we only see the gray skies and feel the cold. You stir my soul, whatever the season, Poppy.

My best,

Living under a grey sky I understand these heartfelt and beautiful strains all too well:)

Well it was 80 degrees with blue skies where I live on Christmas. A very descriptive write on the emotions and feelings from you in this piece.

Funny how the color blue is associated with so much happiness
Out of the darkness into the perfect blue

dont we all long for that
blue

A woman represents nature, then why she will not go through all what nature goes through. Withering and cold makes it appear lifeless but it is breathing and will prove every shallow eye wrong with the change of season. Until then...hang on to the warmth in your heart.
