Gentle Grace

Gentle Grace

A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver

The sky appears bruised,
a rust like canvas that bleeds
a star's silenced dreams.

No saltarello
graces this dark space, only
a funeral march.

Yet poetry guides
the soul home, a subtle warmth
that never betrays.

The wound is the place where the Light enters you.”
― Rumi

I see the eternal light that surrounds you and knowing it wasn't the light that was shining on you but the lantern you were always holding to light your way through darkness to get to the places you wanted to be. I see poetry you have inside, poetry is "vers donness" in Latin means ready made lines. Which French poet Paul Valery said once. Our minds are constantly emitting images, thoughts and entire lines. Each time we listen we capture these ready made lines . Keep a notebook with you at all times because if you don't you can lose that momentary thought and images and is gone forever in outer space. I see you are already walking the path to enlightenment and keep throwing yourself to your self cause your soul will always catch you every-time you fall or want to be hold. Sincerely your friend in poetry and life.

Good work this. There is a gentle melancholy to it, and yet a peacefulness that would come from gazing up at a midnight sky. Good write, Poppy.

Poppy,
Gentle grace is a crowning beauty for me. So much beauty is found in the dark times. I love that you are alert to find it........................Blessings........................Kathy

I really enjoyed this poem Poppy :) Simple, yet impactful. That's one of my favorite ways to write poetry is short and simple, but yet as much of an impact as possible and that's exactly what you have done here. Way to go once again Poppy :) Can't wait to see what's next from you!

I like this, sad in a way but beliefs carry those in need.

As you know, I am in full agreement that poetry is a powerful and eloquent means of outing the pain. Great work here Poppy.

Thank you M.L. :)
There's just something about the Haiku 5/7/5 form that's amazingly cool. You've inspired me to go off and scribble a few down. I liked all three of them and the way that they work together to come to a resolution. A very satisfying read.
