No-One Could Say Oranges Like You

No-One Could Say Oranges Like You

A Poem by Poppy Ruth Silver
"

RIP Leonard Cohen...thanks for the memories...

"

Your tone
was honey
to the sting
of life

Your poetry
a balm
to the sadness
of existence

Your music
raw release
to the cacophony
of madness

No-one
could ever say oranges
like you

This is simple & brilliant. I love the contrasts . . . a poster child for SHOWING instead of TELLING his legacy. Even tho such a loss is huge, it brings us back to considering aspects of life with true meaning, instead of what's dominated the news in recent months. I love this song . . . it was part of the soundtrack of my youth. Your "oranges" line is so amazing . . . multi-layered metaphor with a citrus POP! *smile*

Being a younger person, I'm just being introduced to Leonard Cohen. His work clearly resonated and continues to inspire. Loved this piece, even without fully being able to appreciate tribute.

very short and beautiful, Poppy.
We all have someone who has such qualities. When we come to near such person, our sorrow goes away.
