A Note to My Future Eulogy

A Note to My Future Eulogy

A Poem by Livana Lowell

I hope someone plays a cheerful goodbye song,
dress me up in a Caribbean sea blue dress
with some white heels and a purple flower
near my heart. I hope it smells like perfume
and the perfume be in my hair. I hope the fragrance
touches everyone's noses in the arrangement room.
I hope my best friend will talk about all the nights
she kept saying in oh so many words, "Don't be an idiot."
or talk about how we thought a club and two introverts
seemed like a good idea, how we got two guys' numbers
but never called them. I hope she will talk about how we
each found our passions, how we pushed each other to never give up.
I hope whoever marries me will talk about how my love for Jesus and people
just lit up my eyes and how I loved to dance as I cooked omelettes
because these are things I love in myself.

But most of all
I hope the love of Jesus had shone through my teeth
and in every word and hand I will have shaken along the way
I hope people will remember I stood for justice and good like my Father does
and smile at the thought of Jesus and me sharing coffee in heaven,
black like I've always liked it.
I hope people will remember that when I was wrong in some way,
I sought to humble myself and reconcile to them.
I hope people will remember that when I failed in some way,
I rested in the comfort and grace of my Father,
and stood right back up.

Ultimately, I hope people will remember that I was imperfect
but that I loved with all my heart.

Livana Lowell
Went to a church and wrote this in honor of what I took away from the sermon.

The perfume is a biblical reference.

Wonderful word and thoughts dear Livana.
I hope people will remember that when I was wrong in some way,
"I sought to humble myself and reconcile to them.
I hope people will remember that when I failed in some way,
I rested in the comfort and grace of my Father,
and stood right back up."
The above lines. Is great wisdom and thoughts shared. I did like them. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

The first stanza I thought was beautiful. I wanted to say that I will arrange one of those New Orleans jazz bands for your funeral procession but then the second stanza with its' Stephen Spielberg style effects (Jesus shining through molars not unlike the Indiana Jones Holy Grail movie) kind of threw me until I settled into the message of it.
Finally your A.N. made it super clear.

About
Sooo, hello guys! Not much to say about me. I've been a writer since I was in kindergarten. I used to write stories about dinosaurs surviving the meteor (my favorites ones usually lived) because I had.. more..
