Lo and behold

Lo and behold

A Poem by Ayushi Jha

If I ever call the ocean,
a plethora of mediocrity
for it dances in the shadow of the moon,
I might be a fool.

If I ever call the ocean,
a plethora of mediocrity
for if it loses, the world still holds,
I might be a fool.

If I ever call the ocean,
a plethora of mediocrity,
for it remains within the verge,
I might be a fool
that an ocean can vanquish
with the moon,
through the impassable depths,
beyond the broken verge,
around the world
and can stop me right here...

Beautiful work, Ayushi. Your poem flows with the gracefully powerful essence of the ocean itself. I love how the repetition adds a gentle lull and leads perfectly into your final statement. I think that would be more expressively emphasized, though, if you added a stanza break after every "I might be a fool."
Still, the depth of this poem speaks clearly, and you've every reason to be proud of it! Brilliantly penned!

The Oh so powerful Ocean
A wonder it is
In all it's glory..and command
It is here for us
The simple and complex
Humans..

You are welcome !!! ................J.J.
pretty powerful, those oceans...and to think, at one time, there was nothing but ocean...nothing but...
and right now there is such sadness on our southern coast...the ocean has risen in anger...

I always admire the way you explicate my poems. Thank you!
Your rhythmic word pattern creatively gives the reader a sense of wave motion; where the moon is primarily responsible for the rising and falling of ocean tides, but, for any particular spot on Earth’s surface, the height of the tides and their fluctuation in time depends not only on the moon, but also on the sun. I found the repeating stanzas particular emphasised this action – brilliant write! :-)
