Blustery Breezes

Blustery Breezes

A Poem by barleygirl
"

winds fan California flames . . .

"

I love an autumn day like today,

blustery breezes teasing raindrops.

He whispers to me: come what may

and birdies dance their hip hops.

I wish I knew why some will stay

and some are destined to leave.

Accepting things are done His way

as long as it takes, we grieve.

Saying goodbye to summer

can be both bitter and sweet.

Growing old is a bummer

and each additional day, a treat.

The seasons are just as moody as we are. It's fascinating how the forecast can dictate our life at times. Damn weatherman is never right. This is my favorite time of year because of the colors outside but going to work in the dark blows. Awesome job my friend! A pleasure to take part in.

I entirely agree. Pitch black outside and not even half past six. Plus I'm another day older

Blustery breezes and teasing raindrops. Summer is leaving and autumn has to be accepted.
"...why some will stay and some are destined to leave". We all wish we knew why.
I like the a,b,a,b rhyming style that you have religiously followed in all the stanzas.

Thank you for stopping by to share a few thoughts! Fondly, Margie
On one side of the USA, someone sits in a sunny breeze loving the weather. In California, that same breeze could ruin someone's home and life.

I've always loved Autumn but after seeing the devastation, I pause thinking of others.

At this posting (review) I heard today someone was caught as the arsonist that started the fires. If it's true, I hope he burns in his own hell.

I enjoyed this one Barleygirl.

I really live this comparison between ageing and fall...i have used the same in one of my own poems, as a matter of fact.
The last stanza lends a nice bubbly and playful tone to the overall poem. Good writing! :))

Just a pup like the seasons that pass you by.
Life is still great, Margie.
Autumn is the colourful season, before the snow allows me to break my neck sledging. lol

They must have been tough days.
Dear Margie... in 1959 I was at a college in Napa Valley.... I cannot imagine what is happening there.
The entire fall and winter was rainy and snow skiing not far away. There must be climate change. We now have blustery breezes on the west coast in Virginia with teasing raindrops. When we age, it is both bitter and sweet; each additional day is a treat.
Our prayers and thoughts are with all those in California, and elsewhere. truly, Pat

Yes, each day is a blessing as none are promised tomorrow, the seasons are recycle we on the other hand do not!

Beautifully penned Autumnal poetry Margie, and so appropriate today for me, as storm Ophelia makes her presence felt!
