A Chapter by Debbie Barry

Revised in 11th grade, from an earlier poem about night.

In the Dark, Dark Night (revised)

Revised December 17, 1985

Moths flutter, snakes slither,
Winds rustles, crickets chirp,
Men snore, children giggle,
Weasels slink, owls fly,
Stars flitter, rivers flow,
Lovers whisper, cats howl,
Creatures sleep, flowers die,
And Miracles happen,
In the dark, dark night.
