Holy Star

Holy Star

A Chapter by Debbie Barry

Written in 12th grade, a sonnet about the Star of Bethlehem.

Holy Star

September 30, 1986

Suns and moons turn through the sky;
Ages pass and time goes by.
Warring nations stop and stare
At the bright December air
And love's star which is shining there.
Child of God grows to a man
Preaching love, which is His plan,
Falling to the Roman kings -
Dying for the truth He brings.
Child of the lowly stable
Rises from the holy table,
Joining God as once did Abel.
Suns and moons turn day to night
Spreading God's eternal Right.
