A Chapter by Debbie Barry

A poem about the Arthurian wizard.

March 26, 1991

Child of Darkness, Son of Light,
Immortal manchild, Prince of Right,
Strong defender, prophet wise,
Hawk of destiny - of the golden eyes.

Born of man, yet faerie son,
Raised in peace, and battles won,
Blessed by Jesu, cursed by man,
Kingmaker by deific plan.

Bard and doctor, prophet and king,
Hillfolk child in hilltop ring,
Enchanter and servant, Lord of the wood,
Madman and wiseman, of royalty's blood.

Myrddin Embries, Merlinus, king,
Merlin Enchanter, He who men sing.
