Shark Bite

Shark Bite

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

Shark Bite

was it a case of mistaken identity?
vibrations unseen in radar mystery?
i never saw your eyes roll back nor you coming
tapetum lucidum you see in the dark.
there were no magic crystals for me.
swift and vicious would have pleased me more;
you only nibbled then
                  spit
                                 me
       out!
even your skin is two toned
soft and worsted
and those teeth doubled up
how white they may seem .......
those razors ........
serrated and mean .........
'tween me and thee.
jagged the edges tearing sinew
meat and bone
                                     tenderly clinging
                                   swaying so freely
down ...........
                              down
to the deep where storms never rage.
dark and gently
                                waiting ....
                  waiting for you
                                 and
for me.

I'm gob-stooped and awestruck E. You had me at tapetum lucidum...there are sharks everywhere in life, furtively hidden, lurking, waiting...I could nearly hear the theme song from Jaws as I read, par excellence my dear friend!

100 serrated razor bites

I love your well-crafted shark details that kinda remind me of myself in my more predatory phases, but also those times when I was stuck in a clueless victim mindset . . . I guess that's why I don't get all worked up about the sexual predators so abundant these days, despite my own extensive victimhood, I've also done my share of snapping someone's leg off when the notion seized me. Even tho your poem was written years ago, the "predator" themes are ever present in our current mindset, huh? We humans are basically predatory & it's so hard to act civilized! *sigh!* (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

While my mind immediately jumped to the recent events of shark attacks on the east coast, it is so true that sharks lurk anywhere and everywhere and can grab us when we least expect it. Your creativity shines here and the message is loud and clear. A simply wonderful write!

If only it was the swimming marine version we had to be wary off when dipping our toes in the salty water?

Sharks take on many guises, though it's the human variety I'm most suspicious off ! Outstanding metaphor Einstein, and love the accompanying song, so incisively appropriate !!

Chewed on and dumped in the land where even storms don't rage. Landed right on the ocean bed, with no where to go but up, sans sinew, meat and bone, that is...:))
I can't begin to explain what this poem has done to me , E. You're a conjurer, and you've managed to conjure the scariest array of images. An extremely vivid, and bone rattling (pun intended) poem...that one is...

This is just my thing you know... Dark and ferocious. Some people out there in our lives who have the double skin. You represented their traits in an awesome manner. Those ideas... Superb. But in the ending we see the human weakness- waiting! yes. Hope is something we should never give up.. I really liked this poem... Geeee.... Sharks may dig deep into the flesh. But we won't give it up.That was my perspective. :) thank you for dropping by my page
