A Poem by Asante

Hands together, all --
I pray toward you all
as no math of mind
can alter mine
to think the lesser of you,

For every heart
half-eaten but beating,
there's a fuller one
entrenched in the
embers of fully living,

And while the fists of war
offer incendiary guidance,
artists: score
beautiful music
to mute the sirens.

Peace.

Wow, this is incredible. Rarely do poems make my eyes water but this one did for sure. It seems like every time I read your writing, I find a piece better than the last one I read! I like the lines "for every heart, half-eaten but beating". As I interpret it, that means that even if you're broken, you can still keep going and pull yourself together. I also like the contrast of this poem - lesser vs all, dying and destroyed vs living and hopeful, and war vs peace. Definitely saving this to my library :)

Love the last few lines. This is stellar my friend. I am sorry for my absence. Life has been weird. I wish I had a better reason, but that is it. Your words bring comfort though. They bring me peace.

Sante, This is one uplifting and insightful piece of poetry :-)

I have always believed in live and let live policy but as a poet/ poetess we can spread a lot of good words in bringing peace. Kind and warm words always reach to masses making a great impact on society and spreading awareness among them. Love and patience are very powerful weapons and when they are weaved into poetry, then poetry does wonders.

I loved how you started this write..A message through prayer that you are not lesser than anyone and think of me the same came out very strong.
For every good you will meet an equally engrossed bad...that's how life is.

Last stanza concludes this write very aptly..I have read about many writers losing their lives who tried to spread peace and preached what is right. But they have never given up and that's what we should learn. If there are wars, we also have artists and writers who can mute the sirens, right?

Kudos for this awesome write, Sante. Keep up the good work.

The pleasure is always mine. Thank you for your comments, Michael.
I loved the way you put the first section, Asante. You pray at the same time show your firm resolve as to how everyone should be viewed. I just pray we take the message. You are no less but I am also no less. We are all but equal.
That salute in the second section for every heart touches the heart. I see a lot of the connect aspect in this write. You are addressing , Asante,( if I may say so )in the your waves of thoughts. The messages are clear. They show the journey and I love it. 'Asante' is unique. No math of world should change this. Of course, journey brings changes and changes are welcome.
Art is capable of silencing all the unwanted. Artists must assume this unassigned duty of sending peace.
Thank you for this craft. Keep sharing.

There's something about the last line that wraps up the entire essence of this poem. Beauty, like love, transcends the disorder of this world into an astounding symphony, which can only be heard if one is silent as well. Despite how cruel the world can be, there's always a light hidden within, waiting to be awakened. Great job on this!

Thank you all the more for reading. I'm glad the message came across clearly.
I very much enjoyed this "wave of thought." To me, this piece is like a gentle rain at night ... it's so soft and soothing yet profound in many ways. I love the simplicity in this piece as it helps to convey your message clearly and concisely ... it's reminiscent of how simple things like love and kindness can make a large impact. I also enjoyed the imagery in the second stanza as well as the "mute the sirens" line in the third one. Overall, I think you've written a strong poem here. Bravo.

That was the last line I threw in there, believe it or not. :) Many thanks and blessings, dear Ana.
When you say sirens, what are you referring to? I have my own ideas, I was wondering if you could give a little insight on that line. Great and inspiring you are.

Round three of your wave of thoughts directs more outward, speaks to and reflects your surroundings, I think the other two pieces had a more intense inner pov, dealing with the matter of self. It reads like a modern preach, the first stanza contains prayer like elements. I agree with your entire pov, amen to your words. The second stanza is outstandingly well expressed, a simpler worded one maybe in general but carrying a good message. I read this as a stream of hope and optimism among the hard -and bitterness of this world, a tribute and prompt to the artists.
Moreover I like the lightness and clearness of this writing. And what kind of artist would I be ;) not to share some images with you that my mind naturally created: hands holding each other, not even necessarily praying even but emphasizing the together, simple street views and people to reflect the plainness or maybe even elementariness of it. I read it while listening to the Fugees, that gives it a nice vibe to read along. You're a loving and -able spirit. xo
