Anatomy Of Rank And File

Anatomy Of Rank And File

A political poem or speech...

Anatomy Of Rank And File/   Sami Khalil

A political message in a speech

A nation that stands together prospers together.

A nation that dreams together rises together.

And a nation that sanctifies one another lives forever.

Then, arrest me; shred my words if I have rocked in futility your driftwood boats, no folly while I endeavor.

And, embrace me if I have attested to truth, for in truth lays all the treasure.

That we are born to live voraciously, to weather,

And in our quietest deaths wade through skies of reflection, looking for signs beyond measure.

While in the meantime, between lines and ridges,

Spaces and times let me evoke your bellwether,

Your loveless lives, your rundown hovels, and chide your futile drives.

That is…My pleasure!

We are slaves, Semi. There is no war without us and there is no peace without us. If WE do not participate in the scheme of violence, there is non! They rule because we let them, period. The only power they have is our is that which we give them, and then b***h about it. All we have to do is NOTHING and it will all stop. Consciousness is the power of now...alert...focused...present. Thank you for this beautifully written cry of awakening, my dear poet :)

From Anomie to Anatomy .. I title skipped. I think Anomie is a stronger poem than this one. I've just read this one again. Hmm, I'm not sure if it is satirising a tub-thumping politician or supports the highmindedness of the first three lines. The cynic is me is wary. But I notice the word 'truth', which also featured in Anomie. I note that the last three lines are an absolute contrast to the first three. What was your intention here I wonder. Anomie was more coherent. Maybe I am not up to reading tonight. There is comfort in the form of Anomie, whereas this poem is more unstable and more unsettling. I think that we read in different moods. If we feel frail and tired when we read, we need soothing. If we are all fired up we look to be stirred even more. The pic you chose for this poem made me think of Hugo Chavez. I heard something on the BBC radio earlier today about how angry ordinary Vens now are about having to queue for everything. And how some comments by Obama were seized on by the new president to distract his people from their domestic woes. I think I'm stuck in 'the skies of reflection' here. But then I am not broken-backed by poverty or fired up by any great sense of injustice. So for me I want to minimise politics in my life. So my reading is that of a complacent conservative. But then maybe I am just jaded with our UK politicians attacking each other in the midst of our own election campaign. (Vote in early May.)

Oh wow, I am blown away by this one!! Don't know why but I was reminded of Antony's speech from Julius Caesar. Probably because this one is just as powerful and perfectly worded. Well done, sir, I say!! :))

Even in democracies we struggle to acquire and hold on to our most important freedoms and oft' times we are condemned for trying to exact the changes necessary to ensure peace, liberty and justice for all. Well written Sami!

An impressive write/ Humans are born to be free but so many come along and want to take that away. Mostly humans have lived under bondage or dictatorship.
