Concordia/By Sami Khalil

The migrant crises!

That same winter,

I had gardened faces when earth was strange,

Lacking Concordia and soft spots of the heart.

That same winter,

An Arcadian sun crossed our barb wired orchards,

Drowning the traces of refugees.

Who, in the quiet moments of apparitions,

When phantoms had lain in wait,

Lived not the daily verses of struggle or

The geography of unsettled borders?

Who remembers not?

Wars, incidents, accidents…Or the art of survival,

When life curiously lingers in death

And love is no more.

That hot summer,

I patterned names in hesitations,

Leaving the introduction of crimson voices to the dying legends.

That hot summer,

When those boats sank helplessly,

So much as our conjugated humanity.

Just as before!

"Just as before!"

Indeed, it is troubling how humanity continues to destroy itself over time..

That is soul-filled imagery! A portrait of a tragedy. The sufferers of war! Great stuff here.

Sami Khalil,
Ok this is so good! Visually and sensually I could sense the dark shadow housing the souls moving through in the hope and fear wishing for a future of hope. Very well constructed. Loved it so much. Kathy

a poem that soften the hearts or a poem that brings concordia to our hearts.
a very beautiful poem.
The way you described their struggle to save themselves and our cold and harsh attitude towards them is soooo deep that words after reading it several times made a someone to look at scenario from eyes of refugees.

A very beautiful poem. and especially these lines:

Who, in the quiet moments of apparitions,
When phantoms had lain in wait,
Lived not the daily verses of struggle or
The geography of unsettled borders?

Thank you for sharing it with all of us.

I really love the way you use pictures to embellish your point. The poem is a scathing remark on the incident.

The lines attracting my attention-

"Who remembers not?
Wars incidents, accidents or the art of survival.
when life curiously lingers in death
and love is no more."

This poem is worth a read I guess. Thanks.

Wow. Thank you for sharing this wonderful review and appreciation. You are appreciated. ....:)))
So much remains the same, yet it is always a different crisis. Seems most of us can only sit and watch in horror and disbelief.

As always my good friend your poetry flows with deep emotion. You've touched on a raw subject for many around the world and I only hope that the world may hear the cry's of such poetry and may we find a more peaceful world.
