I Knew I was Doomed When all of my Poems Were About You

I Knew I was Doomed When all of my Poems Were About You

A Poem by Madeleine Morris
"

something I wrote one night after going on a hike late at night during a rainless thunderstorm with the one i love

"
lightning illuminates the night sky above,
providing quick but gorgeous glimpses of the wonder
surrounding us as we sit by the river,
talking of life's mysteries.

nothing but the sound of cool water flowing beneath us,
distant and timid rolls of thunder,
and the life that inhabits the forest we are enveloped in
fills the silence between you and me

without saying a word, you express everything you are feeling
simply through the way you look at me-
my soul is as full as the moon that provides just enough light
for me to take you in.

the storm continues through the night,
but it is nothing compared to the storm that you create inside me.
what a curious feeling it is
to be completely overwhelmed, yet perfectly at peace
at the same time.

How nature and desires sort of roll into one in this lovely constructed piece.

Loved the title .... I can relate to it when poem becomes all about the one you love..... and what a beautiful way to potray the nature and the storm within ...Loved the way you have expressed it

Ah, the sweet doom that is love, how precious the fall into the unknown, the pressure of rising from the depths to see the glory, the million fears of and in the moment.
Strong structure, a compelling piece that carries the reader along like happy flotsam on the emotional flood. There is some very interesting word play here in presented, no simple note of affection is this work.
It is only a minor point, and yet, the stanza line count remains constant through the first three, then changes in the last. I can see a reason to leave it as is, if only to have the expressive flow maintained, and it does not take away from the narrative.
