The Shortest Sad Story Ever Written

The Shortest Sad Story Ever Written

A Story by Mr. Box

The shortest sad story written by famous author, Ernest Hemingway. I believe some of you have seen it before, and I want to share it here for fellow writers who also admire him.

One day, the famous writer and journalist, was having lunch with his friends. He then bet the entire table 10 dollars for each person that he could write a sad story that consisted only of six words. His friends thought that he was just bluffing, and they immediately took out 10 dollars from their pockets. Hemingway then took a piece of napkin and wrote:

"For Sale:
Baby Shoes, Never Worn"

And he won!

Nice one. The only criticism I can think of in order to improve this nice writing is that "he did not write six words in the end." I mean, exactly six words would have been nice. Rest, it is superb.
