Front Line

Front Line

A Poem by Dave Brown
"

heroes

"

There was no request made

No one had been called for

But a front line appeared

Almost, like never before

With no other choice

It had to be manned

Because the whole world over

Had an endless demand

From gas station attendants

Store clerks, grocers and more

To the hospital’s Doctors and Nurses

All became the anti-pandemic core

Did they ever imagine

They would be in such a place

Most especially the health sector

Watching distress, face after face

Day after day, back again for more

Society owes its greatest thanks

To this group of silent hero’s

Filling the dangerous, front-line ranks

truth is, there quite likely was more than a few calls made but most folks were already in place just doing their job

You are very much welcome! Please check out my poem too!
A fine tribute to the men and women in key worker jobs. We owe them much gratitude, especially those working on the coal face in intensive care units. But, there are so many othes, , too many to mention, all doing their bit to keep our homeland from falling on its knees. They deserve the applause and a pay rise too. Good day to you Dave from across the pond.

Yes, we do owe a lot to those who have still gone to work every day throughout the lockdown of this pandemic. Not only those in the medical field, but those who work in grocery stores and pharmacies too. So many heroes in this mess we are in. Well written, Dave....good rhyming. Lydi**

Not sure if Einstein saw this one coming
love this poem...written out of respect to those who simply follow their conscience.
How could we sleep at night knowing we could have done something to help others, but simply refused to get involved.

A very nice tribute to those eyeball to eyeball with the monster here. I read an article about a New York ICU nurse today, and I don't know how those people are holding it together. They need to read things like this.

I think when you see the faces of people who beat the virus leaving hospital, it speaks volumes.
Even staff in supermarkets, you take your hat off to them. I think we can write 2020 off mind you.

certainly has changed our everyday in every way.

Without any doubt a fine tribute too those who give of themselves selflessly during these most difficult times...

Good poem and a very timely subject. I think your rhyming and short declarations are wonderful. They add action to the imagery and make it all work. It makes every one of us think and take care to understand those on the front line. Thank you for this tribute to them and this writing for us.
