Garden Gate

Garden Gate

A Chapter by Dave Brown

a stroll

Through Garden Gate

By garden gate a hedge now grows

With pink of rose to share

Growing through aged shingles there

With mossy underwear

Rusty hinge’s stain aged cedar planks

With ancient latch aside

Clematis bloom their purple pride

Cracked bricks lay orange age dyed

Feathered, coral leaves

With fragile tip-toe prance

Lead an impromptu garden dance

With honey bee enhance

On stretching trellis, wild the growth

A twisting grape, wisteria show

Casting gentle shade below

Where sedum and dianthus grow

A sagging cedar swinging gate

Leads through cosmos blossomed tease

Flowered tween two apple trees

With aged garden bench to please

There to sit and watch sunlight’s stroll

Cross leaf crown’s stretched chapeau

Where speckled growth on branches flow

Like sprinkled drops of bright snow

Then, as end day shadow’s creep

And sunlight sends goodbye

Birds and Bees and Butterflies

Yawn into evening’s sky

My pleasure :)
I will walk through with my friend Chris...and we may both enjoy your garden...i love trellises...

it is like they transform us as we walk through them into a land of serenity...even if just for a short time.
Your description is so painted a postcard of it...the reader can't help but catch the scent of all the beautiful flowers.

Thankyou Kay-T
appreciate your visit
If this is your garden gate Dave, I would willingly walk through, sit on that bench, take in the fragrance, the colours, the wild life and the setting sun. What a beautiful nature poem.. Most enjoyed. Have a good Friday and an even better weekend my friend. All best wishes from across the pond.
